Two-Day Orientation on CSS and CLM

Strengthens Community Understanding in Champhai, Mizoram

A two-day orientation on Community Systems Strengthening (CSS), including Community-Led Monitoring (CLM) for Community Resource Groups (CRGs) and Community Coordinators (CCs), was successfully conducted on 3rd and 4th December 2025 in Champhai District, with participation from Champhai and Khawzawl districts. The orientation brought together invitees from key populations (KP) to enhance their understanding of CSS and the critical role of communities in programme implementation and monitoring.

Many participants were unfamiliar with the core concepts of CSS, the importance of meaningful community engagement, and the roles communities can play at various levels of planning, implementation, and accountability. The orientation, therefore, focused on building foundational knowledge, clarifying roles, and strengthening participants’ confidence to engage more effectively within the programme framework.

The sessions were highly interactive, with participants actively engaging in discussions, asking relevant questions, and demonstrating a strong interest in deepening their understanding of CSS and CLM. The participatory approach encouraged open dialogue and collective learning, enabling participants to reflect on their lived experiences and connect them to community-led processes.

A majority of the participants were from the People Who Inject Drugs (PWID) community. Notably, several participants expressed strong motivation to initiate a PWID-led Community-Based Organisation (CBO) in the near future, reflecting growing leadership, ownership, and readiness within the community.

She highlighted that addressing implementation challenges, conducting research tailored to specific populations, and integrating services are critical to maximising impact.

She also underscored the need for sustained funding, community-led monitoring, and meaningful community engagement to achieve equitable and lasting progress towards ending HIV.

Christmas Celebration Brings Joy and Nutrition

Support to Children Living with HIV in Ahmedabad

On the occasion of Christmas in December 2025, a special celebration programme was organised under the Baal Poshan Project in Ahmedabad, Gujarat, supported by TELUS. The initiative is dedicated to improving the nutritional status and overall health outcomes of Children Living with HIV (CLHIV).

The Christmas programme was conducted on 20 December 2025 at the Ahmedabad CSC, with gift distribution and follow-up support.

A total of 125 children took part in the Christmas celebration. All children received nutrition kits, chocolates, and specially selected gifts. Among them, 81 high-risk children received double nutrition kits, ensuring enhanced nutritional support for those with greater health and nutritional needs.

Children received doll sets, teddy bears, cricket kits, and other gift items. A particularly emotional moment was when a four-year-old girl received a doll and a teddy bear her mother was moved to tears as she shared that their family had never been able to afford such toys.

Another heart-warming instance involved a young girl who had earlier required support from a walking stick and was provided with a wheelchair. This gesture brought immense happiness and relief to both the child and her grandmother.

A 15-year-old boy, who is deeply passionate about cricket, became extremely enthusiastic upon receiving a complete cricket kit. For him, the gift symbolised encouragement, motivation, and belief in his dreams.

The Christmas celebration created a joyful, inclusive, and emotionally enriching environment for children and their families. Beyond nutritional support, the programme strengthened emotional well-being, confidence, and dignity, among Children Living with HIV.

Sahas Ki Pathshala: A Series of Short Videos

Promoting Health, Awareness, and Inclusion

We have recently released Sahas Ki Pathshala, a series of short, expert-led videos focusing on health, HIV prevention, gender, sexuality, mental health, and transgender rights.

Through these short videos, experts explain the difference between sex, gender, and sexuality, helping viewers develop a clearer understanding of identity and diversity. The series also highlights that mental health is not just about the brain, but about overall well-being, encouraging a more holistic approach to health.

Episodes focus on HIV awareness and prevention, breaking down what HIV is,  how it affects the immune system, and why early awareness and prevention are critical. The videos also explain the important role of Post-Exposure Prophylaxis (PEP) and Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) in preventing HIV.

In addition, the series addresses the importance of oral health, its connection to overall well-being, and the need for equal and stigma-free dental care, particularly for people living with HIV. Also an episode that helps viewers better understand who transgender people truly are, challenging myths and promoting dignity, inclusion, and rights.
